FUNDING SUPPORT:

Building Trades

Almost all GTE Construction Industry apprentices and trainees are supported for entry level training by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) through apprentice and trainee support (ATS) funding. This support helps ensure that skilled workers are trained on a continuous basis for the S.A. Building and Construction Industry. These funds are provided to help offset the cost of training, and help improve the quality of apprentice/ trainee support.

Commencement and Completion incentive payments

The Australian Government currently assists employers hiring Trainees by offering commencement, and in some specific cases, completion incentive payments. These incentives vary from individual trainees and their eligibility. With a GTE trainee or apprentice, all commencement and completion incentives are passed back to you gradually through your hourly hire rate.

When taking on a GTE trainee or apprentice, your incentive payments will not be taxed as they would be should you hire a trainee or apprentice yourself.

Group Training Employment is a not for profit organisation, so passes all incentives attracted by your trainee or apprentice back to you.

Tools for Your Trade vouchers

GTE Trainees and Apprentices in specific fields will attract Tools for Your Trade vouchers, generally to the value of $800. GTE will assist the apprentice / trainee in selecting the right tools for their job, and assist with paperwork and application of the voucher. Full ownership of the tools passes to the apprentice or trainee after 9 months of their training contract, as with all employers. Other apprentice Commonwealth support initiatives include tuition vouchers and mature age wage top-ups.

HIRE RATES - WHAT ARE YOU PAYING FOR?

Each individual trainee or apprentice will attract a different hire rate, as each attracts differing incentives depending on their stage of education. Rates are calculated on the trainee / apprentices level of schooling, age, and prior education.
