IAN GILES MEMORIAL

 

 APPRENTICE SCHOLARSHIP

 

 

Group Training Employment is again offering a $2,000 Scholarship in memory of their respected late colleague, Ian Giles.

 

This scholarship will be awarded to an existing apprentice who will be undertaking their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Year in 2011 in the South East of South Australia to assist them in covering the costs of their trade training and associated expenses.

 

Ian Giles Memorial Scholarship 2011 Winner

 

 Group Training Employment officially announced the winner of the Ian Giles Memorial Scholarship 2011 as being Michael O'Conner Apprentice Plumber employed by Rathjen's Plumbing. Ian Giles was a respected staff member of GTE who unfortunately passed away in early 2009.  Ian was a champion of the underdog, he had a strong compassionate empathy for those doing it tough.  GTE annually offer a $2,000 scholarship to any apprentice working in the South East of South Australia who can demonstrate dedication and commitment to their chosen trade whilst battling with financial hardship.

 

On behalf of GTE, Sue Agars presented Michael O'Conner with the 2011/12 Scholarship.

Michael is a 1st year Apprentice Plumber with Rathjen's Plumbing in Mount Gambier. The $2,000 scholarship will assist Michael meet the cost of undertaking his apprenticeship

 

 

HOW TO NOMINATE

 

Apprentices can nominate themselves or can be nominated by their employer, trade school lecturer, parent or anyone who feels that the nominee meets the scholarship criteria.

 

Nominees must be able to demonstrate a real need for financial support to complete their apprenticeship.
