GTE is the total Apprentice/Trainee solution matched to the needs of your business. As a Host Employer the Apprentice/Trainee is placed within your business however, they are legally employed by GTE and remain a GTE employee for the duration of their contracted employment period. We save you time and paperwork and let you focus on running your business.

Host Employer Benefits

Apprentice/Trainee Recruitment and Selection Service

  • Recruit your vacancy through various sources and networks
  • Undertake Aptitude Tests and arrange interviews as required so that you can make the final decision.

Payroll and Administration

  • Undertake all the Contract paperwork and lodgement
  • Government Incentives - we claim these incentives and pass them back to you through the hire rate - they are spread over the term of the apprenticeship.
  • Pay the apprentice/trainee weekly.
  • Issue PAYG Summaries and report to the Australian Tax Office.
  • Pay Superannuation monthly - provide Superchoice.
  • Monitor Awards to ensure pay increases are applied when eligible.
  • We issue an itemized weekly invoice (this is the only paperwork you will receive from us)
  • We have a direct debit system for the convenience of our Host Employers. It will save you time and money issuing or mailing cheque payments.
  • Pay payroll tax if applicable.
  • We maintain all personnel records for the apprentice/trainee
  • Construction Industry Apprentices Only - we submit monthly Long Service Leave reports, claim CITB Funding which is then passed back to you through the hire rate (itemized on your invoice).
  • Meet all payroll reporting requirements
  • Maintain leave balances

Apprentice/Trainee Counselling and Support

  • Mentoring of the apprentice with 6-8 week on site visits
  • Mediate with any conflict resolution between all parties
  • Performance management of apprentice/trainee.

Liaison with Training Bodies

  • Organize Trade School (call up dates, training plan, extra tuition for failed modules, accommodation).
  • Follow up any concerns with the apprentice/trainee off-job training

Occupational Health and Safety

  • OH&S Induction Course (1 day) is held for your new apprentice. You may send your own employees to this training if you wish at no cost for the course.
  • Pre-Employment Medical
  • Supply apprentice with standard safety equipment as applicable.
  • Provide resources to assist you to comply with OH&S Legislation for your own business.
  • Workers Compensation - as the legal employer of the apprentice/trainee, we handle all the workers' compensation paperwork. Any claims are processed against "our" workers compensation policy.
  • We investigate all accidents and if required recommend remedial fixes.
  • We manage the rehabilitation and return to work process of any apprentice/trainee who is off work due to workers' compensation.

Other Benefits to You

  • Arrange alternative work placements (either short-term/long-term) depending upon seasonal fluctuations in your industry.
  • We can assist you with any employment issues that may arise.
  • We offer to Host Employers a Payroll Service (fee for service) for their other employees.
  • Organize some training courses for your business subject to popularity and funds.
  • Statistically GTE's rate of apprentice completion is consistently higher than other Group Training Companies or personal employment.
