School-Based Traineeships.
What is a School-Based Traineeship?
A unique opportunity for Year 10 - 12 Students to begin preparing themselves for a career in the workforce while still at High School.
Allows students to receive on-the-job training in an industry area gaining a nationally recognised vocational education and training qualification.
Group Training Companies in partnership with Schools, Students and Local Businesses provide valuable expertise, knowledge and coordination of traineeships to ensure a brighter future for our youth, industry and the wider community.
How does it work?
Students are enrolled full-time at school and they work part-time with a Host Employer.
A School Based Trainee combines 2 days a week in paid work with 1 or more of schooling.
Trainees are required to work a minimum of 8 hours per week in the workplace, through the 1 to 2 year duration of the traineeship.
Students are paid the National Training Wage Award for the duration of the program.
Benefits for students
Trainees earn while they learn and enjoy a steady income while still at school.
Trainees will achieve formal and industry recognised training qualifications, and also get experience in the workforce as a real employee, not just someone on work experience.
School Based Traineeships help students make informed career choices earlier, giving them a head start for a promising future.
